"Jessica sees the overarching message, overarching themes and has a really quick mind in terms of grasping the lay of the land— not just in data, but also the politics and personalities of the organization."
K. D. Maynard, Senior Program Officer, VentureWell/Frontier Set
Task: Identify key systems change strategies associated with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s (BMGF) Frontier Set, a select group of high-performing colleges and universities, state systems, and supporting organizations that are committed to collectively take steps over a 5-year period (2017-2022) to dramatically increase undergraduate student success and erase attainment gaps among BIPOC, first-generation, and socio-economically disadvantaged students.
Solution: Conduct a comprehensive assessment of lessons learned (2018) and primary drivers of institutional transformation (2021).
Process: Qualitative analysis of annual learning logs and site reflection reports from 30+ Frontier Set sites.
Outcomes: Broadsight cultivated qualitative evidence to inform continued programming and produced a report of preliminary findings foregrounded in Frontier Set: Working Together for Equitable Student Outcomes. A final year qualitative analysis by our team provided project leaders with comprehensive findings regarding institutional transformation catalysts and levers. Broadsight provided sensemaking support for development of five project briefs presented to the BMGF for integration into resource materials for Frontier Set sites, educational leaders and practitioners, and the general public.
A repeat client, VentureWell has been working with Broadsight since 2014.
